Snail
Facts About Snails
- The snail takes in food using its radula and grating it into tiny pieces.
- In the mouth, the salivary glands secrete saliva that breaks down carbohydrates. The saliva also turns the food into pulp, which then enters the gullet.
- Next, the food enters the stomach blind sack, where the main part of digestion occurs and lipids and proteins are digested.
- The food then continues to the intestine, where the final resorption of simple sugars occurs. The indigestible parts then exit the snail through the anus.
