Jellyfish
Facts About Jellyfish
- Jellyfish do not have a specialized digestive system. In fact, it is incomplete since they do not have a intestine, pancreas or liver.
- The food enters through the mouth and then is stored in the gastrovascular cavity, where enzymes are mixed with the food in order to break it down.
- The coelenteron serves as both the intestine and the stomach of the jellyfish.
- Once the nutrients are absorbed and the food is completely broken down, the waste exits the jellyfish through the mouth.
